About Us
Calm your mind and find your soul
Barefoot Barns was born in 2019 following a long search for the most perfect piece of land for our dream. Noise....the shriek of car tyres, the telephone ringing, the tannoy in a supermarket and the chatter of passersby... this can be all too much for many people in our communities....so Barefoot Barns was born.
Our Story
Emma and Roy live with their two sons in the countryside of Wiltshire. For over ten years they have searched for a piece of land that would enable them to fulfil their dream of establishing a bespoke wellbeing service with alpacas for children and adults with additional needs.
The couple have their own experience of loving and caring for a son with autism and searching for sensory neutral environments to visit that would cater for a child with significant challenges.
With over twenty years experience as a children's social worker, Emma has continued her learning including qualifications in mental health first aid, animal assisted therapy and is a psychological wellbeing practitioner.
Roy has recently retired from a long career in the police where he was on the front line as a firearms officer and also trained as a trauma risk incident management practitioner.
Both Roy and Emma are passionate about providing opportunities for people to spend time with the animals at Barefoot Barns without pressure or judgement of their individual needs and with a focus on positive wellbeing and compassion.
